I came away from the conference feeling, excited, privileged and honoured. I look forward to deepening our friendships and communications

Ann Dodd

I felt a very strong desire from the group to be supportive of each other. There was a real intention to move ahead. There was an underlying intention to get depth of understanding. It was a very powerful experience.

What really stood out to me, and I've been to lots of conferences, was how everyone was so respectful of each other even though they had different points of view and were very intense and passionate about Reiki. In their treatment of others everyone had the compassionate willingness to come to agreement. There was a definite intention in the group for inclusion, moving away from exclusion.

One thing that worked was the calmness of the group's decision at each point to come to agreement or "park " the issue if agreement was not reached.

I think recognition of public practice will be successful if there is a clearly articulated, ethical definition as to "what is Reiki" and "What are the benefits" - this will provide the framework to take Reiki into public recognition as a C.A.M. (complementary / alternative medicine)

Liz Davis

I do enjoy the challenge of the process to create a National body for the public practice of Reiki and obtain status for Reiki so that it can become recognised and used in conjunction with medicine.

First of all let me say thank you, thank you, thank you, to the organisers. Not only was the sheer amount of time, energy and commitment that you all gave to this project awesome but also the breadth and depth of thinking resulted in a memorable, enriching experience.

I found it a very special experience to be in community with all the other delegates who were prepared to bring openness and willingness to consider change to the group process and to grow despite the growing pains. I loved the community, the warmth, the caring and the intellectual challenge. I loved our morning meditations.

The commitment proposed by "the team" and endorsed by the conference, to work for the highest good of Reiki and to listen to where Reiki wants to go, created the environment in which each of us was mindful to hold one another in warmth and respect, to listen from the heart. This in turn, I believe made it possible for us to reach consensus on a number of issues ) perhaps beyond the expectations of any of us. The excellent facilitation by Paula, both caring and professional, contributed hugely to the clarity of the whole process, as did the facilitation by members of the organising team.

Having presenters who were able to speak in depth on subjects relevant to our process assisted greatly in holding the focus. Having the "parking lot" prevented us becoming bogged down in any one particular issue.

The presentations from the three representatives from the Yoga, Shiatsu and Hypnotherapists Associations in illuminating their processes of achieving accreditation also showed that, in the process, we do not have to abandon the uniqueness and sacredness of our healing art, to cut and paste it to fit the requirements of some outside authority. Nor do we have to abandon our terminology. Rather it is our task to educate the relevant authorities.

I would like to see professional Reiki Practitioners as people who have a deep understanding of Reiki, not only for what it can do but what it is; who honour it as a spiritual discipline; who make a commitment to using it in their own lives; who honour and endeavour to practice the precepts and spiritual ideals. And then I would like to see the Reiki Practitioner take their place alongside other professionals in the healing arts respected for their professionalism and their role as part of the public face of Reiki.

Geraldine Milton

The conference was just brilliant. I have seen doors open and light flood into areas that I thought were in the `too hard' basket. My feeling is that the way to unity of the Reiki process has emerged and will guide us to the next step"

Kelley Colyer

What I experienced at the 2001 Reiki Conference was profoundly moving. There were many ingredients mixing, blending and folding - frustration, passion, confusion - but above all, love and respect was never lost.

I came away feeling very excited about the future of Reiki and resolved to do Second Level Reiki training as soon as possible.

Martha Lavaring

I enjoyed the connection with other Reiki people. What did I learn by being at the conference? That we have to work together to allow the energy that is Reiki to grow.

Tana Proft

I would really like to express my gratitude to all the members of the Conference Planning Team for organising the recent Reiki conference. It was the best, most stimulating conference I've been to in years and would have involved an enormous amount of work and personal sacrifice from every member of the team. It was also a privilege to share this experience with such a dedicated, generous and caring group of participants. I look forward to deepening the contacts made and to moving with Reiki in whatever the direction that presents for the future. The need is more urgent and pressing than ever.

Dawn Parker

The thing that stuck me most was the passion that was shared by all for Reiki. For me it was a lovely feeling that showed that people from different walks of live can be united for one cause that they all feel so strongly about. It was a wonderful experience for me as I had been a bit disenchanted with where Reiki was going in the past. But now my faith (in the Reiki community) has been restored.

Patricia Halloran

There were many meaningful moments in the 5 day journey together in discovering, remembering and re-emphasising the guiding principles of this healing and spiritual art of Reiki. Through creative listening, sharing, information and stories, through new learning and lively discussions, definitions emerged to (enable) regulation of a credible and ethical practice of Reiki whilst retaining it's spiritual essence.

One such sacred moment for me was an awareness that as a group of committed Reiki practitioners we began to shift from "being community to communion". And at this deeper level I felt the breadth and energy flow out with a vitality, with an expansion and a wisdom giving new life and creating new possibilities.

My hope is that the challenge ahead will find a home in our hearts to bring healing and love to our hurting world.

Christine Bone

Congratulations on a very successful conference. It was an enormous task and I know the lengths to which you were all stretched. Congratulations. It was an honour and a pleasure to sit in circle with you. Thank you for your vision.
