This practice has brought wonderful people into my life. A large part of this has been through my community practice in Reiki Australia - from my early beginnings as an initial Director and now, in my role as Operations Manager. This hands on involvement for over a decade has enabled me to personally and professionally develop and I feel much pride in all that we have accomplished together. There is a lot to be said for team work and the sharing of a common vision!
This is an awesome team. We have more work than we can manage and the team is actively seeking the contributions of other Reiki Australia members in the day to day running of the organisation: Membership, Administration, Accounts as well as the administration of our popular and ever growing Reiki Share Days. Some of these administrative activities can be undertaken in any location. Please make contact with us if you are a member and think you might be interested. We would be delighted to hear from you.
When you call the Reiki Australia office, you'll likely be speaking to me.
I did my Reiki Level I in early 1997 and as the saying goes - the rest is history! I already had an established massage practice when I introduced Reiki treatments as an additional therapy to my clients. A few years later I followed my heart and studied Shiatsu & TCM. By early 2002 I had a busy clinic, offering treatments in Shiatsu, Reiki, Massage as well as teaching Reiki. Ironically, life had other plans for me than to continue running my successful little clinic as I was faced with the challenge of dealing with breast cancer in 2004.
I had been involved with Reiki Australia in a minor way, processing membership applications, since attending the 2003 conference in Perth. But it was after recovering from cancer treatments that I decided to take on more responsibility as a volunteer project team member, rather than going back into my own business. A short few years later Reiki Australia outgrew its home based office space and we moved into a 'proper' office in Nambour. This move coincided with my position becoming a part time paid job. My job description evolved from processing a few simple membership applications to taking on the role as Admin and Membership manager.
My experience over the past 10 years, while being involved with Reiki Australia and all its wonderful, dedicated people has been inspiring, educational, fulfilling and exciting.
The vision and values of Reiki Australia are in line with my own, and I take an active role in managing the accounts, which I've done for several years. I also enjoy working with the lovely team of people who are actively involved in the operation of the organisation, and who share the same vision. This is my community practice of Reiki.. When you transact with Reiki Australia I'm the one who usually processes your payments and keeps the records.
National Reiki Share Co-ordinator
Through Reiki Australia I've enjoyed meeting others who shared the same value for Reiki community connection. I have long taken an active role in the organisation; In 2006 I was part of the team that organised a conference, and I established the regular Reiki Share day on the Sunshine Coast. I gained experience and joy as the event grew in popularity, and it was a natural step for me to reach out to other members who wanted support to host Reiki Share days.
My heart is in the grass roots community. I love providing opportunities for people to connect with Reiki, and for Reiki people to connect with each other. So in my present role as the national co-ordinator of Reiki Share days I find it fulfilling to provide the personal support needed, on behalf of Reiki Australia, to a growing number of members across the country who want to bring Reiki share opportunities into their own communities.
