Interviews with the Masters
Reiki Australia are proud to announce that we will be doing a series of interviews with different Reiki Masters, healers, teacher and leaders in their field, to get to know them better and learn about their experiences and their journey. As they share their stories, insights and wisdom, it will help us all to grow together with open hearts and open minds.
Although Reiki Australia membership holds certain requirements for members, such a direct traceable lineage back to the founder, Mikao Usui, and for members to have been attuned in person, we honour all lineages and systems of Reiki and other forms of healing. We know that there are many rivers to the one ocean, many pathways to find our way back to our true nature, which is of love and light.
With our interviews, we hope to look at other perspectives and other ways people have found to deepen their practice and reveal their true nature through their healing practices.

Dr Stein’s scholarly work focuses on Reiki, new religious movements, and spiritual healing in modern Japan. He is particularly known for his research into the lives and teachings of Mikao Usui, Chujiro Hayashi, and Hawayo Takata — the foundational figures in the development and global transmission of Reiki. Drawing from Japanese-language sources and archival material, Dr Stein offers a deeply contextualised understanding of Reiki’s origins and evolution.
Alternate Currents: Reiki’s Circulation in the Twentieth-Century North Pacific– by Justin B. Stein

Hyakuten Inamoto Sensei is a Japanese Buddhist monk and internationally respected Reiki Master Teacher. He is the founder of Komyo ReikiDo, a Reiki system rooted in traditional Japanese spiritual practices and dedicated to the original essence of Reiki as a path to personal enlightenment and compassionate action.
A student of Chiyoko Yamaguchi (who trained under Chujiro Hayashi, one of Usui’s original students), Inamoto Sensei has devoted his life to preserving the authentic teachings of Usui Reiki Ryoho while making them accessible to a global audience. His approach places emphasis on Reiki not only as a healing technique but as a way of life—a spiritual practice focused on inner peace, mindfulness, and the cultivation of universal compassion.
Fluent in English and well-versed in cross-cultural teaching, Hyakuten Sensei has travelled extensively, offering seminars and spreading the message of Reiki as a spiritual path. He is also known for his pivotal role in clarifying the historical roots of Reiki, often working with researchers and historians to preserve the truth of Reiki’s Japanese origins.
As a gentle, humble teacher with a profound sense of humour and wisdom, Inamoto Sensei brings a deep spiritual richness to the Reiki community worldwide.
