Interviews with the Masters

Reiki Australia are proud to announce that we will be doing a series of interviews with different Reiki Masters, healers, teacher and leaders in their field, to get to know them better and learn about their experiences and their journey. As they share their stories, insights and wisdom, it will help us all to grow together with open hearts and open minds.

Although Reiki Australia membership holds certain requirements for members, such a direct traceable lineage back to the founder, Mikao Usui, and for members to have been attuned in person, we honour all lineages and systems of Reiki and other forms of healing. We know that there are many rivers to the one ocean, many pathways to find our way back to our true nature, which is of love and light.

With our interviews, we hope to look at other perspectives and other ways people have found to deepen their practice and reveal their true nature through their healing practices.

Walter Lubeck
Walter Lübeck is a well-known Reiki Master, spiritual teacher, and author from Germany. He was attuned and trained in Usui Reiki Level 1 in 1987, Reiki Level 2 in 1988 and became a Reiki Master in 1989, attuned and trained by Brigitte Müller, a German Reiki Master who was a student of Phyllis Lei Furumoto. In 2000-2001 he trained in Jikiden Reiki with the late Chiyoko Yamaguchi and later with her son, Tadao Yamaguchi.
He began developing Rainbow Reiki, shortly after being trained in Usui Reiki 1 integrating additional spiritual and energy healing techniques into the traditional Usui system. He did so because sometimes Reiki did not bring the desired results of healing. So he did research and developed solutions, new techniques to apply the Reiki energy in new ways, to help his clients and after 1989 his students.
He has been involved in Reiki since 1987 and developed his own approach, incorporating shamanic traditions, chakra work, and sacred symbols. His style of Reiki is referred to as Rainbow Reiki since the mid 80s, which expands on the Usui system with additional energy techniques, symbols, mantras, spiritual healing practices, additional initiations and deeper work with chakras and meridians.
Walter teaches the vast content of Rainbow Reiki® in about 20 classes. Since 2012 Rainbow Reiki® is a registered trademark in all countries of the EU and Norway. Today Rainbow Reiki® is taught by hundreds of teachers in about 15 countries, to students in about 40 countries.
Walter trained in traditional Usui Reiki but soon began integrating his knowledge of shamanism, energy healing, and Eastern philosophies. He introduced Rainbow Reiki in the early 1990s, which builds upon Usui Reiki with additional symbols, guided meditations, and spiritual exercises. His teachings also include aspects of Feng Shui, Taoism, and sound healing. Walter’s work focuses on Reiki as a transformational path rather than just a healing modality.
He has written extensively on Reiki, energy healing, and spirituality. Some of his most well-known books include:
• The Complete Reiki Handbook – A detailed guide to Reiki, including hand positions, healing techniques, and spiritual insights.
• Reiki: Way of the Heart – Explores Reiki as a path of personal and spiritual development.
• Rainbow Reiki – His signature book, explaining the expanded Reiki system he developed.
• The Spirit of Reiki (co-authored with Frank Arjava Petter and William Lee Rand) – Covers the history, practice, and philosophy of Reiki.
• Reiki, Crystals, and Chakras – A book that integrates crystal healing with Reiki energy work.
Walter is also an avid musician he has released several music productions, teaches shamanic drumming (Magic Power Drums) and singing. Among other things, he plays various drums, drum synthesisers, hand pans, tongue drums, didgeridoo and synthesisers, and Native American flute. He performs regularly in concerts and has recorded several music albums.

Hyakuten Inamoto

Hyakuten Inamoto Sensei is a Japanese Buddhist monk and internationally respected Reiki Master Teacher. He is the founder of Komyo ReikiDo, a Reiki system rooted in traditional Japanese spiritual practices and dedicated to the original essence of Reiki as a path to personal enlightenment and compassionate action.

A student of Chiyoko Yamaguchi (who trained under Chujiro Hayashi, one of Usui’s original students), Inamoto Sensei has devoted his life to preserving the authentic teachings of Usui Reiki Ryoho while making them accessible to a global audience. His approach places emphasis on Reiki not only as a healing technique but as a way of life—a spiritual practice focused on inner peace, mindfulness, and the cultivation of universal compassion.

Fluent in English and well-versed in cross-cultural teaching, Hyakuten Sensei has travelled extensively, offering seminars and spreading the message of Reiki as a spiritual path. He is also known for his pivotal role in clarifying the historical roots of Reiki, often working with researchers and historians to preserve the truth of Reiki’s Japanese origins.

As a gentle, humble teacher with a profound sense of humour and wisdom, Inamoto Sensei brings a deep spiritual richness to the Reiki community worldwide.
