Interviews with the Masters

Reiki Australia are proud to announce that we will be doing a series of interviews with different Reiki Masters, healers, teacher and leaders in their field, to get to know them better and learn about their experiences and their journey. As they share their stories, insights and wisdom, it will help us all to grow together with open hearts and open minds.

Although Reiki Australia membership holds certain requirements for members, such a direct traceable lineage back to the founder, Mikao Usui, and for members to have been attuned in person, we honour all lineages and systems of Reiki and other forms of healing. We know that there are many rivers to the one ocean, many pathways to find our way back to our true nature, which is of love and light.

Here are our Interviews

Sally Wain

Sally is an experienced Reiki practitioner and Reiki teacher specialising in Komyo ReikiDo (pron. Koh-m-yoh Ray-key Doh), a Reiki system that has some Buddhist concepts and is based on Japanese Reiki techniques and practices.

She originally trained in a western style of Reiki in 2006. After undertaking a Reiki Mastership in 2007, the pull to train in spiritual practices led her to complete a Classical Yoga Diploma under Swami Shantananda in 2008. The primary focus of this yoga teacher training was meditation and self-inquiry which continues today.

When Inamoto Hyakuten Sensei came to Melbourne in 2012, Sally enrolled without hesitation. Her curiosity and her sense that there was something more to what she originally learnt as a Reiki practitioner and Reiki Master, called her to attend Inamoto Sensei’s first visit to Australia. She went on to co-host Inamoto Sensei’s 2015 seminar in Sydney and then hosted the 2017 and 2023 seminars in Melbourne.

Sally has studied other Reiki systems at the teaching level. Still, the spiritual nature of Komyo ReikiDo was the one that fitted her pursuit of something more than just the physical hands-on Reiki as taught in her western Reiki origins. The 2015 seminar cemented Sally’s desire to teach this keep-it-simple style of Reiki exclusively. She supports Inamoto Sensei internationally by taking on the role of administrator of Komyo ReikiDo International and hosts Zoom gatherings and Refresher courses for the Komyo ReikiDo community in the Asia Pacific and Americas time zones. Sally is Inamoto Sensei’s representative in Australia and formed Komyo ReikiDo Australia & New Zealand.

Komyo ReikiDo led Sally to pursue additional spiritual training in 2015 with a Buddhist group in Melbourne. She became a Sangha member in January 2016. Since the pandemic, her studies with the Sangha have reduced due to the opening of a dedicated Reiki Studio in Mitcham in 2022. Her spiritual practice continues with the practices of Komyo ReikiDo and Zazen for ongoing spiritual support and growth.
“Reiki is about self-discovery. It is a journey of finding ourselves without judgement, to be happy because we can and be healthy in our views, reactions, and our physical body. In essence, all of us want to be happy and healthy. Reiki Ryoho is a way to achieve both.”

If you have any questions you would like us to ask Sally, please message us before 1pm.

We look forward to sharing Sally’s insights with all of you as we open our hearts and minds to Reiki, the energy of heaven and earth.

Patrick Zeigler

Patrick Zeigler the Grand Master and Founder of the Sekhem/All Love Egyptian system of healing in our series of Interviews with different Reiki and Spiritual Masters and leaders in the field of energy healing and spirituality in our modern times.

In 1980 while Patrick Zeigler was visiting the Great Pyramids in Egypt, he spent a night in meditating the King’s Sarcophagus in the Pyramid of Giza. While there he received his first spontaneous initiation into the energy known as Sekhem/Seichim/SKHM. He has now evolved his Workshops into a more beautiful and heart-based system known as Sekhem/All Love.

After learning Reiki in 1984 and becoming a Reiki Master he was moved to continue to share what he had gained during his mystical experience in the pyramid of Giza.

Patrick is an international presenter who has held workshops on every continent, sharing the healing experience with so many, which often leads to spontaneous initiations and enlightening experiences. Carol, our Chair has personally participated in workshops and training with Patrick in 2005, 2007, 2010, 2014 and 2016, and attended his online gatherings which are equally amazing at connecting us to the energy of the heart, which is why this system is now known as All Love. Patrick and his wife Sirley and their son Sekhem live in Virginia in the US, but continue to travel the world sharing their magic, their love and light. Carol is the current Chair for Reiki Australia 2024/25.

Our goal is to encourage everyone to expand their consciousness and open their hearts and minds to different ways of connecting with the Universal life-force energy.

He is a spiritual teacher and historian and has contributed greatly to the history and practice of Reiki and has written 9 books, and also writes poetry and short stories. He lived in Japan for 12 years and is the vice president of the Jikiden Reiki Institute. Arjava first studied the western style of Reiki and began teaching it back to the Japanese, when he found incongruencies in the teachings, so began to study its origins and history. He then studied Reiki under Mrs Chiyoko Yamaguchi and her son Tado. In 1938, Chiyoko Yamaguchi learned “Usui Reiki Ryoho” from Chujiro Hayashi. For 65 years, she practice Reiki on a daily basis with her relatives, friends and people in her community. After realizing that the original form of Reiki would be lost if it was not preserved, she established the “Jikiden Reiki Institute” with her son, Tadao Yamaguchi in 2000. Tado, who started Jikiden Reiki to give people across the world, as well as in their home country, access to Reiki as it was before it left Japan.

Tado who is the President of Jikiden Reiki, asked Arjava to be the Vice President, which is a great honour for a westerners. Arjava continues to travel the world teaching Jikiden Reiki, this Japanese form of Reiki in its pure form, and sharing his spiritual wisdom through all of his works.

Arjava now lives in Greece with his family and continues to teach world wide, with a greater focus on finding your inner smile and connection to your true self. He will be in New Zealand in September but unfortunately we could not organise workshops in Australia. He does however hold workshops and seminars online from time to time.

Arjava’s books include:

• Reiki Fire, Reiki, the Legacy of Dr. Usui • The Original Reiki Handbook of Dr. Mikao Usui, co-author of • The Spirit of Reiki, • Reiki Best Practices, • The Hayashi Reiki Manual, • Glücklichsein, • Reiki ganz Klar, • This is Reiki, • One with Reiki, • …is…, • Love Speaks, • Promise me Never to get Hurt and • Still …Here and Now. Arjava also writes poetry and short stories as well as Reiki books. At the end of this video Arjava recites poetry from 3 of his books, which will inspire you to light the flame that is within and connect more deeply with yoursekf and others. It is such a pleasure to be able to introduce you to Frank Arjava Petter. Here are some links to connect with Arjava and learn more.

Johannes Reindl

Reiki Australia are very blessed to share this interview with Johannes Reindl, Grand Master & Lineage Bearer for Usui Shiki Reiki Ryoho. This is the lineage handed down from Mikao Usui, Chujiro Hayashi, Hawayo Takata, Phyllis Furumoto, and in 2019 Phyllis announced Johannes as her successor, shortly before her transition.

This was a lovely interview with a very special man, where we get to know Johannes and he shares his Reiki Story and experiences with Phyllis. Johannes is warm and engaging, and we are very grateful for this opportunity, which will no doubt remind us that Reiki is a simple practice and that “Reiki is literally within our hands”.

Johannes Reindl has practiced Reiki since 1995 when he took his first degree class in his home town of Lintz in Austria, at age 17. He has travelled the world since then taking part and assisting in Reiki and Aikido workshops offered by Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki Masters and the Office of the Grandmaster (OGM).

Johannes trained for mastery with Phyllis Furumoto and was initiated by her as a master in Kyoto, Japan in October 2017. Then in 2019 he was recognized by Phyllis as her successor in the spiritual lineage of Usui Shiki Ryoho. This came unexpectedly to Johannes, despite having been an active participant in Phyllis’ Succession Core Team meetings. This team of Usui Shiki Ryoho masters and Second Degree students began meeting regularly in 2016 to explore all possibilities for Phyllis’ succession.

Today, Johannes continues meeting with the community to continue Phyllis’ work. Johannes lives in Linz, Austria where he offers Reiki treatments and classes, he is continuing Phyllis’ work with Reiki students across the globe.

Walter Lübeck

Walter Lübeck is a well-known Reiki Master, spiritual teacher, and author from Germany. His spiritual path began from an early age as a child, when he had natural psychic abilities, and throughout his life he has had a natural curiosity for how things work. His gifts lead him to Reiki by surprise, and through a series of coincidences, he found himself in a class, learning this wonderful modality, without really understanding what Reiki was at the time. However once he found Reiki, it set him on a journey that changed his life forever.

Walter was attuned and trained to Usui Reiki Level 1 in 1987, Reiki Level 2 in 1988 and became a Reiki Master in 1989, attuned and trained by Brigitte Müller, a German Reiki Master who was a Master Student of Phyllis Lei Furumoto. In 2000-2001 he trained in Jikiden Reiki with the late Chiyoko Yamaguchi and later with her son, Tadao Yamaguchi.

He began developing Rainbow Reiki shortly after being trained in Usui Reiki 1 in the 1980’s, integrating additional spiritual and energy healing techniques into the traditional Usui system. He did so because sometimes Reiki did not bring the desired results of healing. So Walter did research and developed solutions and new techniques to apply the Reiki energy in new ways, to help his clients and later from 1989, his students.

Walter has been involved in Reiki since1987 and developed his own approach, incorporating shamanic traditions, chakra work, and sacred symbols. His style of Reiki is referred to as Rainbow Reiki since the midst of the 80s.

Rainbow Reiki expands on the Usui system with additional energy techniques, symbols, mantras, spiritual healing practices, additional initiations and deeper work with chakras and meridians. Walter teaches the vast content of Rainbow Reiki® in about 20 classes. Since 2012 Rainbow Reiki® has been a registered trademark in all countries of the EU and Norway.

Today Rainbow Reiki® is taught by hundreds of teachers in about 15 countries to students of about 40 countries.

Reiki Australia are proud to bring you this series of interviews with different Reiki Masters, healers, teacher and leaders in their field, to get to know them better and learn about their experiences and their journey. As they share their stories, insights and wisdom, it will help us all to grow together with open hearts and open minds.

Although Reiki Australia membership holds certain requirements for members, we honour all lineages and systems of Reiki and other forms of healing. With our interviews, we hope to look at other perspectives and other ways people have found to deepen their practice and reveal their true nature through their healing practices.

Walter now teaches most of his classes in both German and English online. He is happy for people in Australia to contact him to organise a workshop, and he will teach it, so contact Walter if you would like to arrange a special class, and he is happy to accommodate you if possible.

Walter’s next Online Rainbow Reiki Class will be held on September 27th and 28th 2025, so contact Walter for further details.
